It’s a sunny day and here we are in the beautiful setting of Caerphilly Castle. Stage is basking in the late afternoon sun.
The crowd are anticipating something special. Cats in Space make their way on stage to rip into ‘Too Many Gods’, the title song from their first album .
Next we were treated to ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ a tongue in cheek poke at social media . Followed by the haunting ‘Scars’ .
Next a taster from the new album that the band are currently recording, ‘Hologram Man’. Loved this as it still carries CIS sound with clever lyrics, so roll on for the release of it, which as yet is untitled and no set release date so watch this space.
Into ‘Greatest Story Never Told’ a track which sounds fantastic as it changes tempo and Jeff Brown shares lead vocals with Paul Manzi.
Then the last track of their set ‘Five Minute Celebrity’.
This band just gets better and better.

Clown In Your Nightmare
Five Minute Celebrity
Next in line are Hand of Dimes whose style is a soulful bluesy melodic rock .
Lead singer Nev MacDonald had a voice made to sing rock! Guitarist Colin Edwards is recovering from a recent operation, Jim Kirkpatrick from FM stands in .
They play a few songs from their album ‘Raise’ starting with ‘Guilty’ which is delivered by Nev’s incredible vocals .
‘Pinstripe Arrogance’ and ‘Bad Reputation’ follow in quick succession the crowd love it !!! Then a track from Nev and Neil Garland ‘s former band Kooga, ‘Like I’ve Never Known’, which goes down a storm. The last song ‘House of Love’ had the castle bouncing as they ripped through the chorus with everyone dancing and singing along.
The band has had a very busy year so far and we are sure that their popularity will continue as they always deliver with style.
Only the sun out did Nev’s beaming smile.
Awesome gig so far with Thunder left to take the fans to the next level .
As the sun starts to set Thunder take the stage . The crowd cheers as they can see that guitarist/keyboardist Ben has recovered from his recent operation on his collarbone. Dean Howard from Cats in Space stood in for him at a few of the gigs in their Tour of Europe including Download while he finished his recovery.
Fully recovered the band played various tracks from previous albums, much to the delight of everyone. Danny Bowers vocals are as fantastic as ever .
The influences of Free, Bad Company ,Deep Purple and Led Zepp certainly came thru.
But all too soon it was all over.
Great gig fabulous setting and glorious weather what more can a rock fan need?
